The original pear tree, planted by Mary, Queen of Scots whilst staying in Jedburgh, was said to have lasted nearly 400 years before being blown down in a gale in the early 1900s. The pear tree that now grows in the same spot is known as 'Our Queen Mary's Tree' and was given as a replacement by Queen Mary, the grandmother of our current queen, in 1934.

Access

The tree is in the public gardens in the grounds of Mary Queen of Scots Visitor Centre, Queen Street, Jedburgh. The gardens are open until dark.
