People
Working with people is at the heart of Borders Forest Trust's activities. BFT is a community based organisation working in partnership with local people, communities and organisations to connect people with woodlands and re-kindle a woodland culture in the south of Scotland.
The Trust engages people with woodlands principally through three different initiatives
The Trust works with the local Orchard Development Group to assist in the restoration of an old orchard at Crailing, near Jedburgh. teh group holds regular Orchard days on the first Sunday of the month starting at 11am.
The Orchard Development Group are keen to encourage the restoration of orchards throughout the Borders and the development of associated community management groups. A survey of the Borders orchards was carried out in 2007 and a report produced summarising this survey and the location and condition of existing orchards. To view this report please click here.
