Description

In early 2009, Woodschool was the subject of a restructure. Real Wood Studios, a co-operative of designer-makers and the timber operations manager is now the majority shareholder in the business. Real Wood Studios specialises in the creative use of Scottish native hardwoods, producing bespoke furniture and wood works. Alongside the woodworking workshop is an on-site sawmill, selling and processing FSC-approved timber. Real Wood Studios has an ethos closely aligned to that of the original Woodschool, which was established to stimulate greater use of locally sourced hardwood timber. Borders Forest Trust maintains a shareholding and continues to work closely with this flagship project.
