Volunteering with BFT
You can get involved directly with the work of BFT and help us achieve our vision of restoring native woodlands in the south of Scotland by volunteering to help us.
We offer volunteers the opportunity to get involved with a wide range of woodland conservation and management activities such as tree planting, seed collecting, controlling introduced invasive species and woodland survey work.
Sharing your time, skills, experience and expertise in this way is rewarding for you and extremely useful to us. It is possible to volunteer on a one off basis, occasionally or on a long term basis - we don't mind at all. Experience not necessary but enthusiasm is! We have regular volunteering at Wildwood on Tuesdays and the 3rd Sunday of every month (except June, July and December).
In early 2009, new funding was received for a woodland volunteering and youth training project. Co-ordinated by Community Woodland Officer Lisa Brydon, the project runs two days a week and provides opportunities for volunteers to carry out a range of activities in community woodlands in the Scottish Borders. The youth training element of the project provides training in woodland management and countryside management skills, leading to formal accreditations.
The funding for this project has been genorously given by Forestry Commission Scotland, Lloyds TSB and Voluntary Action Fund and the Scottish Government and European Community Scottish Borders Leader 2007 - 2013 Programme.

Your help and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated!
